JEREMY MONTEIRO TRIO

with Maya Raisha & Sean Hong Wei

Generations in Conversation

"Piano, bass, drums, saxophone, and voice in a small jazz ensemble setting."

Come catch the Jeremy Monteiro Trio, featuring Singapore’s King of Swing Jeremy Monteiro on piano, Ben Poh on bass and Hong Chanut Techatananan on drums, together with two of Singapore’s most exciting young jazz talents — Sean Hong Wei and Maya Raisha.

Monteiro, a longstanding figure in Singapore jazz, leads the ensemble alongside two musicians deeply rooted in the region’s performance and education scene. Poh is an active presence in Singapore’s jazz community, while Chanut brings over two decades of experience as a performer and educator in Thailand, where he is affiliated with Silpakorn University’s College of Music.

Joining them are two Singaporean musicians currently pursuing advanced jazz studies in New York City. Saxophonist Sean Hong Wei, a Jazz Association (Singapore) scholarship recipient, has performed internationally as a composer, bandleader, and sideman, with his debut album with Jeremy Monteiro reaching the Top 20 of the USA Jazz Week charts in 2023. Vocalist Maya Raisha, also a Jazz Association (Singapore) scholar, draws from both classical and jazz traditions, shaping a vocal approach influenced by the singers and repertoire that first introduced her to jazz.

Together, the trio and their featured guests present a programme that blends jazz standards with contemporary influences, highlighting both established artistry and the next generation of jazz talent connected to Singapore’s growing jazz scene.
