CHARLENE SU

A Voice of Elegant Soul

"Bridging jazz tradition and modern songcraft."

Charlene Su is a Singaporean vocalist and songwriter, best known as the runner-up of Season 2 of The Final 1, Singapore’s televised singing competition. She first came into national view in 2015 through the program, where her performances introduced her to a wider audience and marked the beginning of her presence on the local live music scene.

She studied Vocal Studies at the School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA), where she received formal training in contemporary vocal performance, interpretation, and ensemble work. During this period, she developed the technical and musical grounding that continues to shape her approach to singing. She later pursued studies in marketing and digital communications at the National University of Singapore.

Since The Final 1, Charlene has performed regularly across Singapore’s live circuit, appearing in jazz clubs, concert venues, and private events. Her performances range from intimate stripped-down sets to full live band formats, with a repertoire that includes contemporary songs as well as jazz-influenced interpretations of familiar material. Her focus is often on phrasing, timing, and how a song is shaped in a live setting rather than fixed stylistic boundaries.

Alongside her live work, she has released original music including Home With You and Don’t Wanna Grow Up. These tracks reflect her approach to songwriting, which sits between contemporary pop structure and influences drawn from jazz and soul traditions.

She continues to perform actively in Singapore’s music scene, moving between different performance spaces while maintaining a consistent focus on live interpretation and vocal storytelling.
